Lendonwood Gardens, located near Grand Lake in northeastern Oklahoma, is a popular tourist destination in the four-state area. Part of the Oklahoma Botanical Garden System, Lendonwood offers a place of beauty and serenity in which to learn about plants and nature. Lendonwood at a Glance
Lendonwood Gardens provides a dazzling experience for gardening enthusiasts and those who simply enjoy the great outdoors. The six-acre Gardens abound with more than 1,200 types of plants, including the largest collection of rhododendrons in the Southwest. Lendonwood has been named a Display Garden for the American Hemerocallis (daylily) Society. Other highlights include:
- Over 75 varieties of Japanese maples, 70 varieties of hostas, 500 varieties of daylilies,
- One of the largest collections of false cypress (chamaecyparis) trees in the U.S.
- 25 varieties of dogwoods
- Several waterfalls
- Japanese Pavilion overlooking a scenic pond
The grounds of Lendonwood Gardens offer a constantly changing panorama of color and texture throughout the year. Much of the botanical garden is landscaped in the Oriental style, shaded by towering oaks. Lendonwood displays its impressive collections in six distinct gardens: the Display Garden, Oriental Garden, English Terrace Garden, Japanese Pond Garden, the American Backyard, and the Angel of Hope Garden. Lendonwood is open to the public during daylight hours year-round.
